Five Days to go Until UNTAMED Releases: the Marketing So Far…

So, there’s only five days to go until my debut novel, UNTAMED, releases. To celebrate, I thought I’d share with you a little about what I’ve been doing in preparation for its release next Wednesday (20th May, 2015).

Firstly, I’ve been spreading the word about. I’ve (sort of) got over my fear of actually telling people that I’m a writer, and I’ve been letting them all know that not only do I have a book being published, but that it’s going to be published next week.

A few people have been very surprised (to put it mildly) as they literally had no idea that I’d written anything. And those people had the best reactions. (Imagine wild shrieking and jumping up and down).

I’ve already handed out a tonne of postcards. (Well, a metaphorical tonne).

Thirdly, I’ve arranged lots of ‘coverage’ for my book. The paperback of UNTAMED is set to be a raffle prize at YA FEST (which I believe will be in October), and I’ve got lots of writer friends who are eager to get their hands on copies. I’ve also been in contact with local bookshops, and a number have expressed interest in acquiring copies of UNTAMED and hosting me for a book-signing or workshop.

Other ‘coverage’ that I’ve done also includes writing guest posts. This last week, I’ve been very busy and have been in contact with a number of lovely bloggers who have agreed to host a post of mine on their blog in the final days before UNTAMED releases. This is so exciting, and I’ll be posting links to all these over on my FB author page.

And that brings me onto social media. I’ve set up a few more accounts, such as a LiveJournal Blog and Pinterest in the last few weeks, and I’ve slowly been sharing information and photos (because everyone loves photos, right?) in anticipation.

Also, my lovely publisher, Prizm Books/Torquere Press, has arranged a Book Tour through Pride Promotions which will run from May 28th. Today I saw the preview of the graphics for this tour and I am so excited! They all look great! And, this tour also includes a giveaway for an e-copy of UNTAMED, and the giveaway will be open until 11.59pm on June 4th. (Incidentally, June 4th will also mark my four-year anniversary as a published writer, thanks to my first short story, “The Silent Siren” which was published in Iron Bound issue 3, on that day in 2011).
