Merry Christmas 2011

Merry Christmas! Well, technically, I’m three days late with this post, but better late than never, right? Exactly.

So, I hope you’re having an amazing holiday and looking forward to the new year.

My Writing News:

On Christmas Eve I finished draft one of my first young adult fantasy novel. I won’t give its title just yet though… The first draft took me about a week of good solid writing to produce. And it’s only really the main events and reminders for me to add in the sub-plots for when I’m writing draft 2 (which I started yesterday). The total word count of draft 1 is around 28,000 words – although a lot is in note-form, and it’s not readable yet!

Yesterday I started draft 2 of the same book (see above paragraph). With this draft I’m starting from the beginning (although I did write chaper 2 before chapter 1…) and writing it in a chronilogical order, unlinke draft 1 which only contained the very main events. Already just comparing the first two chapters of drafts 1 and 2, the second is a lot more detailed, has more depth, and I’ve put symbolism in which relates to the plot’s climax. Which is good.

The main character is a seventeen year old girl called Skye who’s on the run… And yes there is an element of romance too.

Some Good Songs:

These are some of the songs I listen to whilst writing.

Last To Know – The Wanted
Talk That Talk – Rihanna ft Jay-Z
Down For Whatever – Kelly Rowland
Changed The Way You Kiss Me – Example
Get Ready, Get Set – The Saturdays
Nobody’s Perfect – Jessie J

Well, that’s all for now, check back later!
