Recommended Books and Latest News – 11th February 2011

Firstly, I’d just like to say thank you for visiting my website, a completely new blog about my writing, books I hope to publish one day, news within the writing world and books that I recommend for you to read.

Now onto the Reccommended Reads:

Ok, so recently I’ve been reading loads of fantasy, young adult books full of supernatural twists and thought I’d share with you which books I’ve found truly amazing.

The first book I’m going to mention is the last book in Richelle Mead’s ‘Vampire Academy’ series: Last Sacrifice. It is truly amazing and only took me a couple of days to read. There’s so much action and unexpected twists in this book and is a great ‘sum-up’ to the series. The book follows Rose as she tries to escape execution, secure Lissa’s place on the council, and deal with the looming ‘Dimitri or Adrian’ problem. If you haven’t already started the ‘Vampire Academy’ series then I’d fully recommend it to you.

After reading ‘Last Sacrifice’ I was literally buzzing about how good it was and thought that it was possibly one of the greatest fantasy/YA books I’d ever read. For this reason I thought that when I picked up the next book to read that, after reading Richelle Mead’s work, I’d be viewing it unfairly. That was not the case. I was left tingling after reading Lee Monroe’s ‘Dark Heart Forever’.

‘Dark Heart Forever’ (by Lee Monroe) is spellbinding and, again, I read it in a matter of days. It’s so cleverly written. I believe that this book is the first in the series; it’s set parly in a fantasy world, yet when this world combined with the ‘real’ world of the book, I truly did not know what to expect. In short, the book is about a sixteen year old girl, Jane, who appears to have two soul mates, both from different worlds, and both are not what they seem at first. Such a good read! I now can’t wait to read the next book, Dark Heart Rising.

Other books I’ve recently read are the latest installments in P.C & Kristin Cast’s ‘House Of Night ‘series (Awakened) and Rachel Caine’s ‘Morganville Vampires’ Series (Ghost Town). Both of these books were exceedingly good (as expected) and I recommend the whole of each series; very good vampire fiction!

In other news, I’ve been busy planning a number of new stories; recently it just seems that I’ve been bombarded with so many new ideas. I’ve been doing a lot more research than I have actual writing so I’ve got quite a lot to catch up on. I’m still plodding a long with the vampire series I’ve been planning for a while now, but I’ve also been experimenting with different story lines on angles and demons.

Also on the farm where I live, one of my Shetland Ponies is due to have her foal soon (yes, it’s a little early) so we’ve been preparing for that.
