Welcome to the YA Scavenger Hunt!

Welcome to the 20th YA Scavenger Hunt! This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are SIX contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the RED TEAM–but there is also a red team, a gold team, an orange team, a red team, and an indie team for a chance to win a whole different set of books.

If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

SCAVENGER HUNT POST

Today, I am hosting Katie Delahanty on my website for the YA Scavenger Hunt!

Katie lives in Los Angeles with her husband, twin daughters, and son. Growing up in Pittsburgh, she loved old movies and playing dress up, but never considered telling stories of her own until she was asked to start a blog for the sleepwear company she worked for. Unsure what to say about lingerie, she wrote a fictional serial about a girl chasing her costume design dreams who fell in love with a rock star along the way. And that’s when Katie fell in love with storytelling. That blog became The Brightside Series and she’s been waking before dawn to write ever since. Keystone, her debut YA novel was published in January 2020 by Entangled Teen.
About Keystone

You are never alone.

When Ella Karman debuts on the Social Stock Exchange, she finds out life as a high profile “Influencer” isn’t what she expected. Everyone around her is consumed by their rankings, in creating the smoke and mirrors that make them the envy of the world.

But then Ella’s best friend betrays her, her rankings tank, and she loses—everything.

Leaving her old life behind, she joins Keystone, a secret school for thieves, where students are trained to seal everything analog and original because something—or someone—is changing history to suit their needs.

Partnered with the annoyingly hot—and utterly impossible—Garrett Alexander, who has plenty of his own secrets, Ella is forced to return to the Influencer world, while unraveling a conspiracy that began decades ago.

One wrong move and she could lose everything—again.

Exclusive Content

Wow, you’re in for a treat here! We’ve got both a playlist from Katie, sharing 7 songs that inspire her in writing, and her inspiration collage! (Which I must say is absolutely beautiful and totally makes me want to pick up her book right now!)

From Katie:

When I started writing KEYSTONE (like, five years ago, it took SO long, you guys!) Billie Eilish was only twelve years old. I didn’t discover her music until I was in the final phases of editing years later, but I’m so grateful she gave me a soundtrack to write to. It’s pure coincidence that my main character’s name is Elisha (I feel like the universe meant it to be a play on Eilish), and when I found out that Billie has a secret journal (like my MC’s “Book of Secrets”), I knew I’d found my muse.

Here are some songs that inspired me:

I often imagine setting KEYSTONE’s opening scene to:

bury a friend, Billie Eilish

“We knew right from the start you’d fall apart. I want to end me…”

xanny, Billie Eilish

Reminds me of Elisha’s friends “what is it about them? I must be missing something. They just keep doing nothing. Too intoxicated to be scared.”

bad guy, Billie Eilish

I imagine this is how Elisha feels post heist.

“I’m a bad guy. And I like it.”

And beyond Billie, I love:

White Flag, Joseph

“I could surrender, but I’d just be pretending. I’d rather be dead than live a lie.”

No Roots, Alice Merton

“I can’t get the numbers, and play the guessing name
It’s just the place that changes, the rest is still the same”

I Believe, Christina Perri

“This is not the end of me, this is the beginning…”

Dissolve, Absofacto

“I don’t even know how the chemistry works…

You held me but I’m volatile
And never got my head screwed on
Now I’m melting through the floor
Am I only a lab rat?
Someone you can test things on?
Are you training for a new love?”

And don’t forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of books by me, Katie Delahanty, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is 7. Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the red team and you’ll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!

CONTINUE THE HUNT
