UNTAMED to be released by Prizm Books in May 2015!
If you’ve been following me on social media, then you’ll know that in the last few months something pretty exciting has happened. On June 30th 2014 I signed a contract with Prizm Books for my debut novel UNTAMED, and I can announce that its tentative release date is May 20th 2015!
So, who are Prizm Books?
Well, Prizm Books is an imprint of Torquere Press, who specialise in YA mainstream, or LGBT, stories in all genres. My book, a 100,000 word YA dystopian novel, will be released as part of their YA line of mainstream/fantasy fiction next spring. I’ll be releasing more details about UNTAMED at a later date.
I’m hugely excited to be working with the team at Prizm, and can’t wait to see my book come to life.
UNTAMED was the third book that I wrote, but the first that I began to actively pursue getting published. I wrote the first draft of UNTAMED in the early-to-mid part of June 2013 and had it ready for querying by the middle of September 2013. In January 2014, I did a major rewrite following a revise and resubmit (R&R) suggestion from an editor at another publishing house, and then began to query a few more publishers.
All in all, I had three offers from publishers for UNTAMED, but decided to go with Prizm Books as I was impressed by just how many books they’d published, and their professional manner. Already, I’ve had talks with several of the staff at Prizm Books about my book, and have been assigned an editor!
UNTAMED is also the first book in a proposed series of four novels. I’ve already written the first drafts of books 2 and 3, and have outlined number 4, so as soon as the rounds of edits are complete for UNTAMED, I hope to be working again on the next in the series, tightening up and re-working what I’ve already written.
I’ll be releasing more information on UNTAMED in the months to come.
