Writing Update – 13 June 2011

Just a quick update:
So recently I’ve been doing a lot of short story writing and research on the various types of mythology and folklore.
Yes, this month saw the publication of my first short story ‘The Silent Siren’ in issue three of Iron Bound – an online fantasy magazine. My fingers are crossed for the other short stories that I’ve sent out to various other places.
Amongst my short story writing I’ve also been continuing with one of the young adult fantasy series that I’ve been writing for a long time now. In fact I believe i first got the initial idea about 18 months ago. Now I’ve completed the whole series plan and the rough drafts of four of the books; of course these are no where near publishable yet. I don’t want to let too much information out yet, after all they may never be published.
I’ve also started a new novel inspired by Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’. It’s set around two hundred years ago and follows a sixteen year old girl as she unknowingly searches for love and with it a new lifestyle. Of course it’s only in the early stages yet, no way near as developed as my young adult series I mentioned earlier.
As a writer I always seem to be starting new stories, stopping others and restarting some I haven’t touched in months! Yet I’m determined to completely finish a novel (preferably the first book in my young adult series) in the next few months or so – and hopefully it will get done!
Well recently I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to spend on writing – there just seems to be so much to do! Indeed I’ve just got in from seeing to the shetlands and having had the farrier out to trim their hooves.
