Another New Baby – This Time She’s A Shetland
My Shetland pony, Morjoy Tulip gave birth this morning to Goldsytch Bluebell. And Bluebell is very cute.
In fact, I couldn’t quite believe it when I went down to the field this morning and saw Tulip standing in the rushes with a little, tiny foal. Especially as she wasn’t due until another 3 weeks!
Bluebell is a pedigree, miniature Shetland filly foal, and she’s the exact same colouring of her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother: bay.
Tulip is being a very good mother, and a very protective one. Indeed, she won’t let Rosie (the other mare who shares the same field) anywhere near Bluebell. Poor Rosie’s feeling a bit left out, especially as last year Rosie let Tulip help with her foal, Victor. Anyway, I’m sure in a few days we’ll see Rosie being allowed closer to Tulip’s daughter.
Goldsytch Gradbach is Bluebll’s father, and at the moment he’s in the field next door with Victor. Both the boys seem to have realised that something special has happened.
But, isn’t Bluebell cute?
